DIY Calming Bottles

Are you feeling stressed out with everything going on in the world right now?
Us too.

Join us to learn how to make your very own calming bottle to help self-regulate our emotions by gazing at the mesmerizing motions of oil, water, and glitter. Shake, twirl, roll or flip your bottle and relax while you watch the various elements interact.

To make your own, you will need:
a clear plastic container with a lid
water
oil
food coloring
glitter
hot glue/duct tape

Not only is this a calming tool, it's science too!

Did you notice how the water and oil didn't mix? Do you know why?
Oil molecules are attracted to other oil molecules which causes them to stick together. The same is true for the water molecules. No mater how hard you shake that bottle, the two will never mix!

Did you notice that when you bottle is still, the oil floats on top? Do you know why?
Oil floats on water because oil has a lower density than water. Density describes how much space an object or substance takes up (its volume) in relation to the amount of matter in that object or substance (its mass). If an object is heavy and compact, it has a high density.

We'd love to see your DIY Calming Bottles. Post pictures in the comments below!
