May Children, Teen, and Family Programs!

May is full of fun things to do at the Pleasant Hills Public Library!
Don't miss out on all the exciting programs!
 
***Please note that during the month of May there will be NO WEEKLY STORYTIMES. Weekly storytimes will resume the first week in June. Mark your calendars now! While we are taking a break, make sure to take advantage of all the other fun programs happening during the month of May!***
 
Preschool Yoga is back! New day, same time!
Tuesday, April 23rd - May 28th from 1:30 - 2:15 pm
Wear comfy clothes to stretch and unwind while learning fun yoga poses perfect for little bodies! Class runs for six weeks - come to one or all of the sessions! Please bring a large towel or yoga mat with you. Classes will be taught by Alicia Parenti, certified yoga instructor. For children ages 3 - 6 years old, with or without a caregiver. Please register - space is limited!
 
After School Adventures continue!
For children in Kindergarten - 5th Grade. Please register - space is limited!
Stamp Art - Wednesday, May 8th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm - Almost anything can be turned into a stamp! Learn how to make your own stamps using unconventional materials! Using our new stamps, we'll create beautiful cards just in time for Mother's Day!
 
Clay-tastic! - Wednesday, May 22nd from 4:00 - 5:00 pm - Using just a few simple ingredients, you can make your own clay! Together we'll make a few different types of clay and then sculpt them into interesting creations! A $1 donation per child is requested - collected at the event.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover - Drop-off: Friday, May 3rd from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm; Pick-up Breakfast & Storytime: Saturday, May 4th from 10:30 - 11:30 am - Ever wonder what your stuffed animals get up to when you're asleep? Drop your stuffed animal friends off in the Children's Department during normal operating hours on Friday and come back Saturday morning to see what kind of mischief they got into! We'll celebrate the reunion with stories, songs, crafts, and a scrumptious breakfast! A $2 donation per child is requested - collected at drop-off. Please register - space is limited!
 
Mom & Me Spa Night - Monday, May 6th from 7:00 - 8:00 pm - Children are invited to bring their favorite woman in their life for an exquisite night of pampering! Learn how to make a variety of spa staples such as bath salts and hand cream. Punch and cookies will be served. Expect to feel well rested and beautiful! A $2 donation per pair ($1 for each additional child) is requested - collected at event. Please register - space is limited!
 
PJ Family Storytime: Snoring Lions - Monday, May 13th from 7:00 - 7:45 pm - Lions roar, but did you know that they also snore? Join us for stories, songs, games, crafts, and a delicious snack sure to please even the hungriest of lions! Wear your PJs! Please register!

No registration necessary - just show up ready for fun!
Teen Talk - Thursday, May 23rd from 4:00 - 5:00 pm - Stuff your face with delicious pizza while enjoying conversation with friends and a variety of games! We'll play Wii and chat about books! Tell your friends!
 
T-Shirt Totes - Thursday, May 30th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm - Do you have any old t-shirts laying around the house that you no longer wear? Turn them into awesome and useful tote bags! Learn some sewing basics while transforming something old into something new! Bring an old t-shirt with you!!

PJ Storytime - Itsy Bitsy Spider Climbs Again
Oh no! Itsy Bitsy Spider has been washed down the water spout! Join us as we cheer him back up with stories, songs, games, crafts, and a delectable snack! Wear your PJs! Fun for the whole family! Registration requested, but not required.
 
This is the last week of the Spring season for Weekly Storytimes! Don't miss out on all the fun!

Nursery and action rhymes, songs, books, and so much more! For children birth to 2 years old, with a caregiver.
TOT Time
Thursday, April 11th @ 10:30 am
Learn and grow with stories, songs, finger plays, fun activities, and a snack! For children ages 2 to 3 1/2 years old, with a caregiver.

What happens when you mix together an acid and a base? They erupt! Come prepared to get messy as we investigate what make things explode! A $1 donation, per child, is requested. For children in Kindergarten - 5th Grade. Please register! Space is limited!!
 
After School Adventures - Lego Extravaganza
Wednesday, April 24th from 4:00 - 5:00 pm
If you enjoy building with Legos, then this is the program for you! Join us for intense and wacky building competitions with some free play thrown in! Bring your own Legos or use ours! For children in Kindergarten - 5th Grade. Please register!

Duct Tape Art

One Book Every Young Child

In an effort to highlight the importance of early literacy, we are proud to be a part of
One Book Every Young Child.
 
Throughout the month of April, children all over the state of Pennsylvania will enjoy Suzanne Bloom's The Bus for Us, a delightful picture book about an excited child waiting for the bus to school for the very first time. 
 
Join us tonight (Monday, April 1st) from 7:00 - 7:45 pm for a special storytime celebrating transportation!
We'll share stories, sing songs, play games, make a craft, and enjoy a delicious snack on the go! Everyone who attends will receive a special One Book Every Young Child bookmark! Fun for the whole family!
