HAVE YOU LISTENED TO AN AUDIO BOOK LATELY?

Not every child enjoys reading a book.  So you may want to look for a different way to introduce reading to your child.  Audio books emphasize reading as a source of pleasure rather than skill and make kids eager to learn how to read or improve their reading.  Listening to audio books can strengthen listening, concentration and imagination skills.  Here are a few audio books that I recommend.
Young Fredle by Cynthia Voight.  Fredle, a young mouse cast out of his home, faces dangers and predators outside, makes some important discoveries and allies, and learns the meaning of freedom as he struggles to return home.  (Grades 3 and up.)

The Misfits by James Howe.  Four middle school students who are considered misfits decide to create a third party for the student council elections to represent all students who have ever been called names.  Read by Spencer Murphy and the Full Cast Family.  (Grades 4 and up.)

A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon.  In order to ensure her popularity, Camilla Cream always does what is expected, until the day arrives when she no longer recognizes herself.  (Grades K and up)

Olivia The Audio Collection by Ian Falconer.  Olivia, the pig stars in five of her greatest stories.  Read by Dame Edna Everage.  (Preschool- K)
