WHY SHOULD I SIGN MY YOUNG CHILD UP FOR SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES?
Have you ever tried to sing "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" without the hand motions? It just doesn't feel right! Actions help children remember words to a song or a finger play because there is muscle memory involved. Young children love movement and actions. Sign language caters to both. Research shows that children find sign language fun and children retain what they learn through fun, engaging activities. So come join us on Tuesdays, Sept. 15 and 22 @ 10:30. Suggested ages 2-6 years. Please sign up at the front desk or call 412-655-2424.

EVERYWHERE YOU TURN IT IS "BACK TO SCHOOL"

and Pleasant Hills Library is no exception! So if you have a young child headed "back to school" come check out our "back to school" shelf in the children's department.

Here's a little taste of what we have to offer:

Fish School by Nancy Poydar
Can a goldfish really learn? Charlie is sure that his pet Wishy can.
So when his class visits the aquarium.............

Corneluius P. Mud, ARE YOU READY FOR SCHOOL? by Barney Saltzberg
It's time for school. Is Cornelius P. Mud up? Is that plucky little pig ready for school?

Miss Mingo and the Fire Drill by Jamie Harper
It's Fire Safety Week in Miss Mingo's room.
This isn't your typical classroom, and Miss
Mingo isn't your average teacher!

The Hair of Zoe Fleefenbacher Goes to School by Laurie Halse Anderson
Zoe has wild and beautiful hair. But Zoe's new first grade teacher says
"School has rules." and she says "No wild hair in my class!"
So what are Zoe and her free-spirited hair going to do now?

The Library Has Gone To The Dogs!

Thank you to Toby, Daisy, Noah,
Presto, Squeeze and Cody,
our Tail Waggin' Tutors, from the Golden Triangle Obedience Training Club! Children and dogs alike had a tail waggin' good time reading and listening to books. All of the children who attended our Read to a Therapy Dog Program received a certificate of participation and a chance to interact with some very gentle, sweet and well-behaved dogs.
