Teen Craft: A Whole Lot of Worry - Monday, June 24 @ 6:00 pm - Do you have worries? Who doesn't?!? Learn how to make worry stones and dolls to take your worries away! For teens going into grades 6 - 12. No registration necessary.

 

Afternoon Adventures: Lego Fun! - Wednesday, June 26 @ 4:00 pm - Join us for intense and wacky building competitions with some free play thrown in! Bring your own Legos or use ours! For children going into grades K - 5. Please register!

 

Teen Talk - Thursdays, June 13 - August 8 @ 12:00 pm - Stuff your face with delicious food while playing games and hanging out with friends! Weekly SRC winner pulled each week (winner need not be present). For teens going into grades 6 - 12. No registration necessary.

 

PJ Family Storytime: Dino Snores - Monday, July 8 @ 7:00 pm - Can you snore like a dinosaur? Get ready for bed with dinosaurs while enjoying stories, songs, games, crafts, and a delicious snack! Wear your PJs! Fun for the whole family! Please register!

 

Afternoon Adventures: Alternative Art - Wednesday, July 10 @ 4:00 pm - Discover surprising uses for everyday objects while creating beautiful art! We'll use recyclables and food stuff to create our masterpieces. A $1 donation per child is requested. For children going into grades K - 5. Please register!

MakeShop Workshop TODAY!!!

Join us TODAY from 1-3 pm for a special hands-on program all about electricity! Children's Museum MakeShop staff member Ken Goodwin will be here to help us learn and explore! Drop by and build a circuit, take apart old electronics, and gain a truly unique understanding of electricity! Open to all ages 0 - 22, with or without a caregiver!

No need to register - just show up ready to learn!

Bug Hunt @ The Pleasant Hills Arboretum - Monday, June 17th @ 7:00 pm (THAT'S TONIGHT!!!) - How many bugs can you find? Join Chad Gore, local entomologist, at the Arboretum to learn about bugs in our area. A $1 donation per child is requested. If you'd like to take any bugs home, please bring a container to do so! Fun for the whole family!!! The Pleasant Hills Arboretum is located at 181 West Bruceton Road, Pittsburgh PA 15236

 

Chick-fil-A Family Craft Night - Tuesday, June 18th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm - Stop by Chick-fil-A on Route 51 to make a fun craft, play a silly game, and enjoy a free kids 4 piece nugget or strip meal*! Drop by anytime between 5:00 - 7:00 pm! (*Free Kids Meal with purchase of Adult combo or Entrée Salad.) No registration necessary! Just stop by hungry! This program is being held at Chick-fil-A Restaurant located at 461 Clairton Blvd.

 

MakeShop Workshop: Understanding Electricity - Wednesday, June 19th from 1:00 - 3:00 pm - Have you ever wondered how electricity works? Have you ever wanted to take apart an old electronic device to see what was inside? If you answered yes then this is the program for you! Join Children's Museum MakeShop staff member Ken Goodwin for this unique hands-on program all about electricity! Drop in and explore basic electricity by building circuits and exploring old electronics! No registration necessary - just stop by ready to explore! Open to anyone ages 0 - 22, with or without a caregiver!

Summer Reading is in full swing!

Have you registered for summer reading club yet?!? NO?!?

We have a Summer Reading Club for every age and reading ability!!! Register at the library or online by visiting our web page. Visit the library to pick up your reading log and goody bag*!

 

Babies and Toddlers are invited to join Wiggling Worms! Earn a weekly prize for completing tasks such as reading together, singing together, and visiting the library! Complete at least eight weeks to earn a free board book!

 

Children not yet reading on their own, or just learning to read, are invited to join Junior Diggers! Earn a raffle ticket for every 10 books you read or listen too! Raffle tickets are good towards any of our awesome weekly raffle prizes! Also, earn an instant prize every time you visit the library as long as you have your reading log with you!

 

Children reading confidently on their own are invited to join Earth Explorers! Earn a raffle ticket for every hour you spend reading! Raffle tickets are good towards any of our awesome weekly raffle prizes! Also, earn an instant prize every time you visit the library as long as you have your reading log with you!

 

Teens going into grades 6 - 12 are invited to join Beneath the Surface! Earn a raffle ticket for every book you read! Raffle tickets are good towards any of our awesome weekly raffle prizes! Earn a free book for every five books you read! Also, earn an instant prize every time you visit the library as long as you have your reading log with you!

 

Adults have a Summer Reading Club too! Adults are invited to join Groundbreaking Reads! Earn prizes for turning in book reviews, finding the gnome, and more! Enjoy fun programs throughout the summer just for grown-ups!
